How we research

Clear rules for what Whisk & Steal claims — and what we never claim. Researched, not tested. Live prices from retailer feeds. Amazon links are text-only.

Whisk & Steal helps home cooks find kitchen tools worth buying without drowning in every flash sale. That only works if we stay honest about our methods. This page is the short version of how the site works.

Researched, not tested

We have not hands-on tested the products we write about. Our buying guides, gift guides, and comparisons are researched from manufacturer specifications, public product listings at major retailers, and widely shared cooking advice. Every guide says so near the top. When we do not know something from those sources, we say so instead of inventing a verdict.

You will never see “we tested N units” or lab-style scores on this site. If you need a publication that runs its own kitchen tests, that is a different kind of site — and we are glad those exist. Our job is to narrow the field, explain who each tool suits, and point you at live prices when a feed has them.

Who it’s for / who should skip

Guides and comparisons include a short Who it’s for and Who should skip block drawn from that page’s own content. The goal is to help you leave quickly when a product is a poor fit — not to talk you into a purchase.

How prices stay fresh (~24 hours)

We never type Amazon prices into the site, and we never show Amazon product images. Live prices you do see come from other retailer feeds (for example brand Shopify catalogs) pulled at build time. An item only appears with a price when a feed confirmed it in the freshness window we enforce in code.

A scheduled GitHub Action (daily-rebuild) triggers a Cloudflare Pages rebuild once per day (cron 15 11 * * * UTC, about early morning US Central depending on daylight saving). Recent runs have completed successfully on that daily cadence, so price data is refreshed about every 24 hours. Each price card shows its source and when it was checked. Feeds can still lag reality — always confirm the total at the retailer before you buy.

Amazon links are text-only

When we link to Amazon, we use text search links only, tagged with our Associates tag, marked rel="nofollow sponsored". We do not paste Amazon prices or Amazon product photos into pages or emails. As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases. The same page always carries the disclosure. Newsletter emails link only to whiskandsteal.com — never to Amazon or other stores.

Recipes we publish

Recipe pages use public-domain USDA MyPlate Kitchen text with credit and a link out. We do not invent recipes or cook times. Illustrated cards are ours; we do not copy brand or store photos.

Quick answers

Has Whisk & Steal tested these products?

No. We research from manufacturer information, public listings, and widely shared cooking advice. Every guide says we have not tested the products ourselves.

How often do prices refresh?

A daily rebuild pulls live retailer feeds so prices are typically refreshed about every 24 hours. Each price shows its source and when it was checked. Confirm the retailer's price at checkout.

Do you show Amazon prices or images?

No. Amazon links are text search links only, marked as sponsored. Live prices on the site come from other retailer feeds, never from Amazon price scrapes.
